How Established Companies Can Restart Through Agile Thinking and Action
Digitalization is on everyone’s lips—recognized by both politics and business as the most crucial topic of the coming years. Companies across all industries are facing the challenges of Work 4.0 and New Work. However, successful examples of overcoming these challenges are few and far between.
Pickert & Partner GmbH successfully transitioned from a traditionally organized company to an agile-thinking and acting organization with our support.
The transformation process addressed a range of relevant topics, each of which can also stand alone. These included:
The Story
In 2016, we first came into contact with Pickert & Partner. The managing director was in the process of finalizing the acquisition of IDOS GmbH and faced the challenge of integrating the two companies. Early discussions quickly revealed that this would not be a simple integration. Instead, the idea was to use this opportunity to fundamentally restructure the organization.
Sven Rimmelspacher, owner and managing director at Pickert & Partner, describes the situation at the time as follows:
“Through the acquisition, we are growing to over 50 employees, and I immediately ask myself whether I need another management level or not. This is a typical critical company size that is often the subject of various seminars on business growth. But do I really want that? Do I want more bureaucracy, more hierarchical and departmental thinking, and more of ‘That’s not my job’? No – I do not! Deep down, I have long been thinking about doing things differently. And I mean really differently! Why do I need hierarchies? Why do I need departments? Why shouldn’t we pursue paths that I already believe are right?”
Under the headings “Agility” and “New Work,” many ideas are discussed that address these questions. The employees at Pickert & Partner decided to fundamentally rethink their company, and we had the privilege of accompanying them on this journey.
„Imagine a world where business success and job satisfaction are inseparable.“
